Kim Crawford Signature Reserve Sauvignon Blanc

Winemaking

We source the fruit for our Signature Reserve from select small lots along Marlborough’s coastal plains and valleys. To select the small lots, we identify sub-regions with distinct soil types and diverse geography—from alluvial plains to windswept valleys, from foothills to steeper mountainsides—this allows grapes in each sub-region to develop characters unique to their terroir. In addition, Marlborough’s cool nights and sunny days create the high diurnal temperature differentiation found in the world’s finest regions; this is the factor that lengthens the growing season and allows clusters to hang for extended time on the vine, ripening grapes to full expression and exceptional quality

Marlborough

The first vines were planted in Marlborough in 1973, and today it’s one of the world’s foremost winegrowing regions. Marlborough’s long ripening period results in cool-climate flavors that vary significantly by sub-region. This region is made up of seven distinct sub-regions, and the differences among them hold the key to blending intense and complex Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. This wide array of flavors offers winemakers the ability to blend to particular style year after year.
